Big Mikes Thursday Thoughts and Live Blog Bet

Well its been quite a week hasnt it? Following on from the big win on Tuesday the Combo on Thursday returned over £200 with 6 winning doubles including 48/1,37/1,26/1 plus a separate winning Combo double.  Additionally The Kite lay fell to the ground again.

One of my members who has been with me 9 years emailed me this morning and his point is a good one. Maybe now the ’silly season’ has ended (wall to wall racing) maybe the pressure is less intense and just maybe the thought process is more relaxed and beneficial for us all. Lets hope hes right as with National Hunt racing on the horizon I am extremely bullish about the year ahead (otherwise I would’nt have given that warranty would I?) Well thats my reaction anyway.

Betting as a living.  Can it be done? Of course is the answer. I have had an email this morning from a fellow Accountant (we are not ALL boring you know) informing me that his meticulously kept records show that he has made over £3,300 profit in the year from 1st September 2008 to 31st August 2009 from my bets. He uses a mixture of bet types and increases stakes on the £8 and £12 Hughies otherwise he plays at stakes as shown. THE interesting point confirms my view that the NH produced far bigger returns than from the crafty boys on the Flat. His profit to the end of March 2009 was much bigger than the final amount. He suggests that maybe I should reduce stakes on the Flat. A fair point and I will look into that but the main thing his P & L account shows a whacking profit.

Good news. In fact excellent news. Along with Starsky and The Alchemist being heavily involved in the column/forum this next year – I have received Notification that the greatly admired ‘DEAN’ will be returning with a fresh bank starting on 1st September. His lays will continue on his site on the Column so all I wait now for is news from AndyG & Shaun to continue their Golf and Football thoughts respectively for the Forum.

Its looking quite a good package now for £69 a month isnt it? Others are charging more (not referring to the respected Mathematician here) with columns where they just place a few ‘tips’ and ‘lays’ which they could have picked with a pin. I have followed the results on one of these ‘The Perfect Punter’. Maybe he should change his name. Tepid stuff. An extract from todays email ‘Shame about yesterday with the bad weather arriving after I had sent the tips out.’ Oveh.

Tomorrows column will be SHORT. Just the suggestions and little spiel. I have an important meeting up here at the Farm with my team in readiness for the New Season where I am planning (with help) to produce a column virtually every day – so I will need outside help to perform this task from other members in the team.

I will be in the Chatroom this afternoon and if a further Hughie/Turbo turns up – or trade – (as did yesterday) I will put up for members as well.

One Live Blog Bet from me today an £8 Hughie (A bet on the horse to finish placed i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd and is played via Betfair’s place markets)

£8 Place only on Rakaan 3.50 Ling untried on going, big drop in class, blinkers. Trainer in cracking form at present and ok here. Looks like a ploy to get head in front and really ought to win this but has to be a place only bet. Pitching at 1.3

Price at the end is price to take or if pitching and if not taken then bet 5 mins pre race at best.  Obviously take care & adjust when drifting substantially or if horses taken out.

As always to access my full daily column of bets and trades please visit my main site at www.bigmikebetting.co.uk or to sign up as a free member enabling you to receive the occasional complimentary daily column from me, you can contact my Gal Friday – Luan at luan7677@hotmail.com and she will set this up for you.

    Hi Mike

I am on the months free trial (day three) and joined just to late to join in the big win at the beginning of the week but it looks as though there is plenty more to come. One small complaint your afternoon blog bet (a hughie) suits my betting style – Betfair Place Bet, but I do not get it in time to look at it. What is your timing for this blog bet?

I am at the moment trying to sort out the bets from all those you publish each day to follow a proper programme.

I am an inpatient mail reader and have also been experiencing computer problems.

    Hi Gerald,

Ok, the blog bets are chosen from the £4, £6, £8 and £12 Hughies as listed in the daily column.

I try to pick out the Hughie I am most confident will place.

The daily column is the priority for the paying members, once I have sent it I then start thinking about whether or not to post a Live Blog Bet, so the blog is generally updated between 12-2.30pm.

Unfortunately there seems to be about an hour to an hour and a half delay between me posting the blog bet and the RSS feed sending the bet via email to your inbox – this I am afraid is due to the mail server linked to the blog queuing the emails. All I can suggest is you keep refreshing the blog periodically between 2 and 2.30 to ensure you see the bet in time. Generally I try to allow at least 1 hour between posting the bet and the start time of the race. Unfortunately yesterday I got tied up on other matters and posted the blog bet a bit too late.

On the subject of yesterdays blog bet Rakaan. You will have noticed that that selection was not taken from the Daily Column. Rakaan was a place bet selected by Starsky yesterday (who we are bringing on board as part of the team on September 1st with his own private service at £29.99 per month.)

    Hope this clarifies the situation.

    All the best

    Mike
